Numark launches second round of funded technician apprenticeships

Numark is rolling out a second round of its fully funded pharmacy technician apprenticeship training programme, delivered in partnership with Buttercups Training and supported by the Phoenix Group.

Following the success of the initial programme in January, when over 50 Numark members signed up within the first hour of launch, this second phase, says Numark, “demonstrates its continued commitment to developing the community pharmacy workforce and ensuring sustainable access to high-quality training”.

The initial programme was fully funded through apprenticeship levy gifting, with over £500,000 of funding provided. Since then, Buttercups Training has worked closely with Numark members to enrol apprentices onto its pharmacy technician training programme.

Now, with further support from Buttercups and the social impact team at their parent organisation, the BPP Education Group, additional funding has been secured to offer a second wave of fully funded apprenticeship places which are exclusive to Numark members.

This next round is open to Numark members across England, including those who applied for the NHS England Community Pharmacy Technician Programme.

Whether applicants were successful or not in securing NHS funding, they are eligible to apply for a levy gift to cover the cost of the apprenticeship training programme fees.

For those who were successful with their NHS application, and who will receive £15,053 per year from NHS England for the two-year programme, the levy gift will cover programme fees, ensuring the funding goes even further.

Members who were not successful, or did not apply for NHS funding, can still benefit from the levy gifting initiative by applying directly.

Numark has been asked how many training places are to be funded, and when the application process will open, but has yet to respond.
